Fabrication Services

Our workshop supports custom stainless builds, practical modifications and kitchen-ready metalwork. Services are shaped around daily use, easy cleaning and sound installation.

Custom stainless work for kitchens that stay busy

Our workshop makes practical stainless pieces for prep rooms, servery lines and back-of-house areas where equipment gets used hard every day. We build to suit the space you have, whether that is a compact takeaway in Brakpan or a larger kitchen in Germiston needing better flow around the cook line.

Most jobs start with a site measure so we can check wall lengths, ceiling height, drainage points and traffic movement before we cut steel. That helps avoid last minute changes, and it means the final fit is easier to clean and safer for staff moving fast during service.

What we fabricate and modify

We cover new fabrication as well as changes to existing counters and fixtures. If a kitchen layout has shifted, or the original build no longer works for service, we can alter it instead of replacing everything.

  • Custom prep tables in stainless steel
  • Custom sinks and wash-up areas
  • Servery counters for serving lines and self-help areas
  • Extractor canopies sized for the cooking line
  • Shelving and racking for dry stores and storerooms
  • Counter modifications and height changes
  • Stainless recladding for worn surfaces
  • Mobile trolleys and display unit bases

Some clients only need a small fix, like an extra shelf, a splashback or a stronger support frame. Others need a full remake of a counter section. We keep the work practical, with finish quality that stands up to moisture, cleaning chemicals and the occasional knock from trays or pots.

How to choose the right fabrication service

If you are not sure where to begin, think about what is failing first. Is the problem storage, hygiene, service speed or movement in the kitchen? A prep table may solve one issue, while a new canopy or sink line may solve another. On some sites, two smaller changes work better than one major rebuild.

We often help clients in Benoni, Boksburg and Kempton Park decide between repair, modification or a fresh build. If the current unit is sound but badly arranged, a counter modification can save money. If the steel is thin, rusted or dented, a new fabrication is usually better in the long run.

Site measuring, fitment and installation readiness

Good fabrication starts with the right measurements and ends with a clean fit on site. We check access points, uneven floors, drain positions, gas appliance clearance and where power or extraction needs to land. That matters in older buildings as well as newer takeaway sites where space is tight.

  • We measure on site before fabrication where needed
  • We work around practical issues like low ceilings and awkward corners
  • We allow for cleaning access and staff movement
  • We prepare items for sensible installation and fixing on site

In coastal or humid conditions, even inland stockrooms can suffer from damp, so material choice and finish matter. Stainless is usually the safer call for frequent washdowns, while supports and frames must be planned properly so they do not flex over time.

Built for food service, not just for show

Our focus is kitchen-ready metalwork that keeps working when loadshedding, heat and constant cleaning put pressure on a site. Prep surfaces need to be level and easy to wipe, sinks must be practical for the staff using them and counters should line up with the way your team actually works.

We also fabricate display unit bases for food presentation areas and mobile trolleys for moving stock, trays or equipment between prep and service points. On takeaway sites, a well placed counter or shelf can improve speed more than a costly rearrangement of the whole shop.

Benoni base, East Rand reach, national delivery

Our workshop is based in Benoni and we support clients across the East Rand, including Boksburg, Brakpan, Springs, Kempton Park and Germiston. We also deliver nationally for projects that need careful packing and planning before dispatch.

CaterKraft has been serving the trade since 2016 under the guidance of Lerato Khumalo and our small specialist team. From first enquiry to final handover, we keep the process straightforward and practical, with direct communication and enough detail to avoid delays. If you need fabrication that fits a real working kitchen, email sales@caterkraftsa.co.za and we will take it from there.

Questions we get asked

Do you only fabricate new items?

No. We also modify existing counters, replace worn sections, add shelving and rework units that no longer suit the kitchen layout.

Can you come out for site measuring?

Yes. Site measuring is part of our service for many projects, especially where the space is tight or the fit needs to be exact.

Do you deliver outside Gauteng?

Yes. We are based in Benoni and deliver nationally, depending on the size of the job and the packing required.
