Custom Prep Tables

Custom prep tables are made to fit the way your kitchen works, not the other way round. We build stainless tables to the width, height and layout you need for prep, packing and service in Benoni, the East Rand and beyond.

Built for your kitchen width, height and workflow

Every prep area works differently. A takeaway kitchen in Boksburg may need a narrow table along one wall, while a school kitchen in Germiston may need a long centre table with storage below and clearance for hot boxes. We make each table to suit the room, the staff movement and the equipment that sits beside it. That means less wasted space, cleaner handover between prep stages and fewer awkward reaches during a busy lunch rush.

Our custom prep tables are made from stainless steel for daily food use and easy cleaning. We can include open undershelves, reinforced top frames, splash backs, undershelves for crates, or plain open legs where you need access for bins and trolleys. If the floor is uneven, we can adjust the leg detail so the table sits level and does not rock. We also allow for wall returns, pillar cuts and tight corners where a standard size would never fit properly.

  • Made to your exact length, width and working height
  • Suitable for kitchens, takeaways, bakeries and prep rooms
  • Options for undershelves, splash backs and reinforcement
  • Designed around passes, fridges, sinks and gas lines

What is included in a custom prep table order

We do not sell a one size fits all unit and hope it works. A custom prep table order starts with practical measurements and a clear idea of how the table will be used. For some clients, that means a simple stainless top with a frame underneath. For others it includes extra shelfing, cut-outs, a raised lip at the back, or a deeper top for plating and packing. We can also match the table to other stainless fixtures in the same kitchen so the layout feels planned, not patched together.

Depending on the brief, we can include a top gauge suited to everyday kitchen work, braced corners for heavier use, and legs with adjustable feet for small floor variations. If the unit needs to sit against a wall, we allow for wall clearance and easier cleaning behind the table. If it will stand in the middle of a room, we plan for access on all sides and the traffic of staff coming through with trays or ingredients. Small details matter in a hot kitchen and they save time every single shift.

  • Site measuring and confirmation of the required size
  • Choice of table layout, including open frame or undershelf
  • Stainless top, frame and leg structure made to order
  • Optional backs, bracing, shelves and cut-outs
  • Delivery and placement in Benoni, East Rand and national routes

How the process works from measure to delivery

We keep the process direct. First we confirm the intended use of the table, the available space and any items that must sit nearby, such as a sink, gas range or display unit. Then we measure on site where needed, or work from clear room dimensions if the site is already set out. This step helps avoid surprises at installation, especially in older buildings where walls are not perfectly square and floor levels can shift over time.

Once the measurements are checked, we prepare the build details and move into fabrication. The table is cut, welded and finished by our team, then checked for fit and stability before dispatch. If the job includes more than one unit, we keep the sizes consistent so the installation line is neat. For projects in Benoni, Boksburg, Brakpan, Springs, Kempton Park and Germiston, we can plan around access times and on site working hours. National deliveries are arranged for clients further out.

  • Step 1: Brief and site measurements
  • Step 2: Confirm size, height and features
  • Step 3: Fabrication and finishing
  • Step 4: Final check for level, strength and fit
  • Step 5: Delivery and placement

Turnaround, pricing and order planning

Turnaround depends on the size of the table, the finish required and how much detail is included. A plain custom prep table can move faster than a unit with shelving, backs or extra bracing. We will give a realistic lead time once the measurements are confirmed and the specification is clear. If a kitchen is being opened to a deadline, let us know early so we can plan the sequence with the rest of the equipment. last minute changes usually slow things down more than the fabrication itself.

Pricing is based on size, stainless content, structure and any added work such as site measuring, cut-outs or reinforced sections. We price properly from the start so you know where the money is going. There is no point in quoting a small table and then discovering the kitchen needs a deeper top and additional bracing for daily use. For commercial sites, a slightly better build on day one often costs less than replacing a weak unit later on.

  • Price depends on dimensions and layout
  • Extras such as undershelves or back lips affect cost
  • Site measuring can be included where required
  • Lead time is confirmed after the specification is finalised

Maintenance for stainless prep tables in daily use

Stainless steel is practical, but it still needs basic care if you want it to stay neat. Wipe the table down after each service period with warm water and a mild cleaner, then dry it so water marks do not settle on the surface. In coastal areas or kitchens with heavy steam, this simple habit helps prevent dulling and keeps the finish looking tidy. If the table is near salty air or a busy wash-up area, give the legs and corners a proper once-over more often.

We recommend checking table feet, shelf fixings and joints every few months, especially in high traffic kitchens where trolleys and crates knock against the frame. If the table carries a lot of weight, inspect it at least every 3 months. For lighter use, every 6 months is usually fine. If you notice movement, a loose foot or a tired weld point, deal with it early. A small fix now is easier than a bigger repair after repeated strain. That is just common sense really.

  • Daily wipe down after use
  • Monthly check for loose feet or fittings
  • 3 month inspection for busy kitchens
  • 6 month inspection for lighter commercial use

Why East Rand kitchens ask us for made-to-size tables

Many kitchens in the East Rand work with tight floors, mixed equipment and real pressure during breakfast and lunch. A standard table often leaves dead corners, blocked walkways or an awkward gap next to the fryer or bain-marie. A made-to-size table can solve that in one go. It can carry prep trays for a Benoni takeaway, give a packing station in Brakpan more elbow room, or fit neatly into a service line in Kempton Park without crowding the staff area.

We work from Benoni and supply the East Rand daily, so we understand the practical side of local kitchen work. Power cuts, busy delivery windows and municipal rules all affect how a kitchen is set up. The right table should make the room easier to manage, not add another problem. If you need one unit or a full set of prep surfaces, we can help plan it around the space you already have and the work you need done every day.

For quoting, send your room size, photos and the way the table will be used. If you are unsure, we can help from there and keep the order process straightforward.

What clients say

Questions we get asked

Can you make a prep table to fit between other kitchen equipment?

Yes. We build to the space available and can allow for walls, pillars, fridges, sinks and service gaps.

Do you offer site measuring in Benoni and nearby towns?

Yes. Site measuring is available, especially where the kitchen has tight access or more than one unit needs to line up.

How often should a commercial prep table be checked?

Busy kitchens should check the table every 3 months. Lighter use can usually work on a 6 month check.
